This is our review discussing the guitar effects unit known as the Line 6 Floor POD Plus. The link found at the conclusion of this article leads to a site selling the unit. Guitar effects units have been around since the late 1950s. They give guitarists the ability to alter and distort their sounds in many ways. The Line 6 Floor POD Plus allows for 16 modulation effects including tremolo, flange, and chorus. It is also capable of six delay effects while providing two different reverbs. Moreover, the unit is able to emulate the sounds from 32 different amplifiers that are both classic and modern. Impressively, the Line 6 Floor POD Plus packs all these features into a unit weighing only 7.4 pounds.
Line 6 Floor POD Plus: What it is
The Line 6 Floor POD Plus guitar effects panel is a fully functioning unit that is equally ideal for playing in venues and studios alike. Its interface may be a bit daunting for those completely familiar with what each of the options is capable of doing. Users of this effects unit typically make good use of their users’ manual as finding some of the sounds can prove difficult. Generally speaking, this effects unit is not the best choice for beginning guitarists. Running via a power adapter, the Line 6 Floor POD Plus contains six pedals that are either of the switch or continuous variety.
Line 6 Floor POD Plus: What I Like
The Line 6 Floor POD Plus is fully featured, versatile, and fun to use for a fair price of around $200. I would imagine that this unit, with all of its customizable amps and effects could create almost any sound a guitarist would ever like. The pedal sounds fantastic when connected to a PA system. Also, the wah/volume pedal sounds quite nice and is accessible, making it easy to turn on or off. Along with all these attributes are the facts that the Line 6 Floor Pod Plus is very portable and comes with several nice presets that are worth incorporating into custom songs.
Line 6 Floor POD Plus: What I Didn’t Like
The Line 6 Floor POD Plus is a fine guitar effects unit; but, it is not without its shortcomings. Noticeably, it lacks a digital display interface, something that is often found on other guitar effects products of similar price. Moreover, it does not have a USB output which is perfect for uploading audio files and digital recording. Its sound quality is not up to par with more expensive units of a professional grade. Finally, the Line 6 Floor POD Plus is primarily constructed of plastic, and therefore not as durable as steel built effect units.
Line 6 Floor POD Plus: Overall Thoughts
The Line 6 Floor POD Plus guitar effects unit is perfect for intermediate users. However, beginners may feel over challenged by the product’s many options. Professional guitarists will find the sound quality unsuitable for their particular demands. I find this unit does quite well with acoustical guitars. It should be noted that this product is well worth its price.
